GALAXY’S EDGE ENTRANCE SIGN
Inspired by my days in the parks and a lifelong love of Star Wars, this independent design study invites guests to a galaxy far, far away.
Picture
The idea for this project started during Traditions, my first day as a Disney employee, when we spent part of the day in the park. A guest asked me where the entrance to Galaxy’s Edge was. We were standing roughly 100 feet from it, but they had no idea the nearby path led to Batuu.

That moment stuck with me. I saw an opportunity to explore a sign that could help guests find their way while building anticipation for the world they were about to enter.

Working at Disneyland has made me look more closely at the design and details throughout the parks. That daily inspiration, along with my love of Star Wars, motivated me to turn this interaction into an independent design study.

I took the project from early silhouette studies to a finished 3D concept, considering its shape, materials, dimensional lettering, and scale. I modeled the sign at real-world scale in SketchUp to establish its dimensions and proportions, then refined and prepared the geometry in Maya for real-time rendering in Unreal Engine.

Building the surrounding environment allowed me to explore the sign from guest viewpoints and visualize its materials and lighting during the day and at night. My goal was to make the entrance easier to recognize while creating something that felt at home on the path to Batuu.

This is a personal portfolio project, not official Disney or Walt Disney Imagineering work, and does not represent a planned park addition.
